Mercedes and VW share top What Van? honour

Date: 22 November 2006

VW's Crafter and twin van Mercedes Sprinter have been named 2007 vans of the year by BusinessCar's sister title What Van? magazine.

The joint venture between the two companies obviously works well, with the impressive pair beating tough competition from the likes of the revised Transit, Citroen Relay/Fiat Ducato/Peugeot Boxer triplets and Vauxhall's new Astravan, which picked up the editor's choice award.

Ford, predictably, bagged a host of wins, with the Fiesta taking its third small van prize in a row, big brother Transit Connect bagging a fifth straight light van prize and the Transit victorious in the one-stop shop, minibus and security categories.

Mitsubishi's new L200 scooped the pick-up prize ahead of last year's winner, the Nissan Navara, and the Nissan Primastar, Renault Trafic/Vauxhall Vivaro family scooped the award for top small panel van.
