S-type gets final freshen-up

Date: 07 December 2006

The 2007 incarnation of Jaguar's S-type - available to order now - offers even more for less, to entice buyers into the executive saloon before it passes the baton to the new XF on sale from spring 2008.

Key changes include all models getting the smart mesh grille and sporty bumper of the S-type R, plus across-the-board alloy wheel upgrades. 17-inch wheels are now standard on the Spirit, the XS and SE get 18-inchers while the S-type R rocks 19s.

The XS replaces the existing Sport model and gains the exterior styling pack and Sport interior, and even entry-level cars now get the six-speed auto transmission, leather seats and steering wheel trim plus rear park assist.

Prices for the simplified four-trim line-up, Spirit, XS, SE and R (Classic and Sport have been dropped) now range from £28,995-£45,000 - including a £1000 price-cut for the Spirit and a whopping £5000 off the S-type R.
