Sebring spawns diesel drop-top

Date: 29 November 2006

Chrysler is to add a folding hard-top convertible Sebring to its range in just over a year from now, with the Convertible model being launched with either 2.7-litre petrol or 2.0-litre diesel engine in late 2007.

The saloon version goes on sale next summer, and will be joined by the drop-top around six months later.

The Sebring Convertible joins BMW's 3-series Convertible and the Volvo C70 as the only retractable metal-roofed options in the segment.

Roof up, Chrysler has made sure the boot's big enough to take four sets of golf clubs, with enough space for two sets with the roof down.

The 2.7 petrol engine is also likely to find its way into the Sebring saloon, although it's not among the launch engines.
