Three-door adds to Civic appeal

Date: 05 July 2006

Honda's adventurous new Civic will get a three-door variant to join the radical five-door in March, following the car's world debut at the British Motor Show the week after next.

Branded Type-S, the three-door gets the same options of 1.8 petrol or 2.2 diesels, both with 140PS, and the new model gets a specially-tuned suspension. Two trim levels will be offered, with the standard car getting aircon and curtain airbags among its standard equipment, while the Type-S GT adds glass roof, dual-zone aircon, cruise control and auto wipers/lights. A hot type-R version, previewed by a concept car at the British show, will also follow next year.
