Toyota reveals Corolla replacement

Date: 29 September 2006

Toyota has revealed its replacement for the Corolla at the Paris motor show.

Although described by Toyota as a concept car, insiders have told BusinessCar that the interior will remain virtually unchanged for the production car, and that the exterior is "very close" to reality - including the sweeping centre console.

The production version is expected to go on sale in the UK early next year.

The concept is named Auris, derived from the latin word for gold. Toyota has confirmed it is dropping the long-lived Corolla name and is expected to use the Auris name in the UK as it follows Toyota's policy of ending car names with '-is', such as Yaris and Avensis.
