All-new Audi A4 revealed

Date: 29 August 2007

Audi's all new A4 will become the first model range to be totally Euro5 compliant - making it eligible for expected benefit-in-kind tax breaks for greener company cars.

All three diesel and two petrols meet the tough new emissions standards. Audi has yet to release complete CO2 figures for the new A4, however it has confirmed the 143PS 2.0-litre diesel - likely to be the biggest seller - will be capable of 51.4mpg with a 144g/km CO2 output.

BusinessCar Awards winning Audi will offer even more efficient versions of the A4 in the future, but remains tight lipped about which engines will power them.

The new A4 is longer and wider than the current model providing more room for passengers and luggage. Audi claims shoulder room and leg room for rear passengers is increased, the latter by 36mm, while the boot capacity is 480 litres (up from 460) and 962 with seats folded.

On sale on the Continent in November, UK buyers will be able to order a car from 11 September this year, but first deliveries aren't expected until March 2008. The estate version is understood to be six months behind the saloon.

UK prices will start from less than £20,000 according to an Audi spokesman, however pricing will start from £17,600 on the Continent.

UK specifications will be revealed on 11 September, with Audi working hard to ensure the RV and data providers will have all the information about the car ahead of that date.

Trim levels will continue from the current car with standard, SE and S-line available.

High-tech options that buyers will have available include clever steering that changes the car's turning circle size depending on vehicle speed, cooled seats, keyless start, switchable suspension settings, iPod and Bluetooth connection, blind spot warning system, clever cruise, lane assist and a reversing camera.

So far only an electronic parking brake and a plastic BMW/Mercedes style key have been revealed as standard equipment.
