Alphabet builds deal with construction firm

Date: 31 May 2007

Top 20 biggest leasing giant Alphabet has won a deal worth 160 vehicles with construction firm EG Carter and Company.

The Gloucester-based firm previously bought all its vehicles (split equally with cars and commercials) outright, but this changes with the Alphabet deal as the company moves to contract hire funding while hoping to benefit from more accurate running costs forecasts.

According to EG Carter's purchasing boss David Carter, time also played a significant role in the rethink: "[Our] policy called for the purchase of nearly new cars to make initial cost savings. Tracking down nearly new cars, in the right colours and trim to meet the employee's requirements, became increasingly time-consuming."
