Arval cuts garage time waste

Date: 08 November 2007   |   Author: Hugh Hunston

Leasing giant Arval is claiming its pioneering online maintenance and repair monitoring system can cut fleet vehicle downtime by around 15% and "significantly" reduce short-term rental costs.

Rolled out and developed in conjunction with software specialists Epyx the system is operated by Arval's downtime management team, which tracks repair and maintenance on customers' cars and "chases up" the progress or lack of it.

Jenny Powley, director for large corporate groups at Arval, emphasised that vehicle downtime can impose "an extensive burden on monthly bottom line figures. Fewer vehicles on the road have the knock-on effect of delayed deliveries and grounded drivers".

The downtime management team identifies the issues involved with prolonged repairs, chases stalled jobs, validates garages' responses and updates clients via text and email.
