BMW reveals 1-series convertible

Date: 01 October 2007

BMW buyers will have four convertibles to choose from with the introduction of the 1-series convertible in 2008.

Based on the soon to go on sale 1-series coupe, revealed in June, the convertible is expected to be available with an identical engine line-up to the fixed-roof car.

BMW has opted for a fabric roof, rather than the increasingly common folding hard top which could limit the car's availability on business car choice lists. However, it is understood the roof can be raised or lowered in 22 seconds and when the car is travelling at speeds of up to 25mph.

Prices have yet to be announced, but expect the convertible to be priced from £24,000.
