BusinessCar blogger gets BMW promotion

Richard Schooling

BusinessCar blogger Richard Schooling is being promoted to the role of chief operating officer in the BMW group.

As commercial director, Schooling led the growth of BMW-owned leasing firm Alphabet to its current fleet of 40,600 managed multi-brand vehicles. He will remain on the board there, but will now also be responsible for marketing, pricing and analytics, and operations for the whole of BMW group's financial services.

"There is a steady erosion of the old boundaries between fleet and personal leasing, and retail and commercial finance channels," said Schooling. "As a group we are extremely well placed to anticipate the effects of these market changes with new developments to cater for the emerging needs of fleets, employers, motor retailers and private individuals."

Taking over as commercial director at Alphabet is Mark Sinclair. Sinclair joined Alphabet in 2000 and brings experience in several senior management positions in the company and knowledge as an ACA chartered accountant to the role.

"Alphabet is a fantastic team of people, with a deep commitment to our ethos of fresh-thinking and innovation, and of course to providing high quality service to our customers," said Sinclair. "I look forward to continuing to build on those strengths across the full spectrum of fleet funding and managements products that we offer."
