Citroen pushes forward with used van plan

Date: 07 March 2007

Citroen is advancing plans for a specific used van programme, supporting a trial scheme with around 30 dealers offering specific sales areas, dedicated staff and more stock.

"There is demand for used vans as well as new, but quality used vans from people that know about these vehicles," said Citroen's commercial vehicle operations manager Robert Handyside.

"We're being very careful with the van centre idea - it needs to be bigger than a pilot scheme but scaled on a manageable level.

The programme follows a similar scheme introduced at the beginning of the year to encourage dealers to build business sales locally.

"Any Citroen dealer can sell LCVs, they asked for the programme, and we looked at the standards and investment," said Handyside.

"They need dedicated sales people and sales areas, we've provided additional support and we're spending more time with them."

Citroen is supporting this with three recently-recruited head office staff.
