Citroen reveals hybrid concept

Date: 03 September 2007

French car maker, and BusinessCar Live exhibitor, Citroen will take the wraps of this the C-cactus hybrid concept car at next week's Frankfurt motor show.

C-cactus will be unveiled alongside the C-airscape which hints at the next generation C5.

The lower medium sized C-cactus uses a diesel-electric hybrid engine capable of 83.1mpg and has a CO2 figure of 78g/km. The concept is not only efficient, but is also lightweight thanks to a programme of keeping parts to a minimum.

C-cactus does without a dashboard, has two-piece seats and efficient aircon rather than fully opening windows.

The manufacturer claims the hybrid's cost could be kept low, the firm estimates it would cost the same as a C4, because of the small number of components used.

It is understood that while the styling of the concept is unlikely to make production the 70PS diesel 30PS electric engine and associated low-weight technology could be used in future Citroens.
