CONFERENCE: ECOS bring eco benefits

Date: 31 May 2007

Nick Sutton

Provecta boss Nick Sutton was out to set the record straight on ECO schemes at last week's BusinessCar Conference, stressing the difference between cash for car and ECO.

ECO schemes, he said, operate in a structured manner bringing benefits to driver, business and environment, despite the presumption that drivers opt for more polluting cars. He claims ECO cars average 165g/km of CO2, one gramme lower than lease car average.

According to Sutton, there are between 100,000-120,000 ECO cars in the UK, which equates to 5% of the company car population. "ECO schemes are not the bad guys, it's the millions of grey fleet drivers," he said.
