CONFERENCE: Green issues 'bulldoze' duty of care

Date: 01 June 2007

Concerns that green issues are "bulldozing" duty of care off many companies' thinking was pivotal to Mazda fleet boss Terry Swanton's presentation at the last week's BusinessCar Conference.

Swanton shared concerns that business is not taking advantage of tech that helps provide a 'cloak of security' against poor driving. "Green concerns seem to have bulldozed duty of care," he said.

But it wasn't just green issues that were sidelining duty of care. "We're besieged by requests for iPods and satnav, while enquiries for key safety features are very low," said Swanton, highlighting the disappointing take-up of ESP anti-skid control systems in particular.
