Diesel Nissan Murano two years away

Date: 19 November 2007   |   Author: Hugh Hunston

Nissan's second-generation Murano 4x4 crossover will reach the British market towards the end of next year, but fleet customers must wait a further 12 months before the much-needed diesel version materialises.

When it arrives the diesel will come in the form of the RenaultNissan Alliance's V6, 3.0-litre 265PS, twin-turbo, which in Renault's Laguna Coupe has a 200g/km CO2 rating.

Dubbed as a 'super evolution' of the current V6, 3.5-litre petrol-engined Murano, the successor has more assertive front-end styling plus a built-in hard drive and DVD 'infotainment' system.

While American customers have a choice of front- or four-wheel-drive formats, UK buyers can only opt for all-wheel-drive technology mated to the Xtronic CVT transmission.

With just one thirsty, high-CO2 petrol-only model the Murano sold 8345 units last year.
