Duty of care is less of a worry as green concerns take root

Date: 22 January 2007

Duty of care is the biggest issue facing businesses in 2007, according to survey carried out by Lex.

Lex found 39% of fleets questioned cited health and safety/duty of care as their chief concern for 2007. But this figure is down on 12 months ago when 48% of companies claimed duty of care outweighed any other worry.

As in 2006 vehicle running costs came second, with 38% of fleet managers this time around admitting cost-per-miles were responsible for many a sleepless nights.

In third place with 29% of the vote was business' admitting they're worried about running a greener fleet, but this issue is becoming increasingly important as it was sixth in the list in 2006 and eighth in 2005.

"In many respects we were surprised that going green didn't come top of the survey, bearing in mind the exposure this issue has had over the past 12 months," said Jon Walden, MD of Lex.
