Audi bosses at the Geneva motor show were confident that the entire A5 coupe range, including the sporty S5, will be compliant with strict Euro 5 emissions regulations - even though as yet the targets remain under wraps.
If true, this bodes well for the forthcoming A4 that shares the svelte A5's mechanicals.
The A5 range will kick off at £30,175 for a 190PS 2.7-litre TDi engine that reaches 60mph in less than 7.6secs but returns 42.1mpg on the combined cycle.
Spearheading the range will be the all-wheel drive S5 that hits 60mph in under 5.1secs thanks to a 354PS petrol V8.
Audi claims its new coupe will lead the class for handling. The A5s arrive in the UK this July.
