EXCLUSIVE: Mini next in line for BMW eco-tech

Date: 16 May 2007

Brake regeneration and automatic stop-start are just two of a number of fuel saving and emissions slashing measures that are to make their debut on a technically revised Mini that's due, according to one insider, within 12 months.

Donated from the recently revised BMW's 1-series, new technology that also includes intelligent alternators, will boost the Mini's already impressive economy while lowering emissions even further.

Following the eco-tech's introduction on the small BMW emissions fell by 21% and fuel consumption 24%. Applying the tech to the Mini One will see similar savings with emissions for the 1.4-litre car possibly falling below 120g/km, meaning savings on VED and London C-charge exemption come 2008.
