The start point for the best source of fleet information

Fiat plans market-leading website

Fiat is aiming to generate 10,000 extra sales by 2010 through a new website, www.fiat.co.uk, set to go live on Thursday 28 June.

The new website will include a dedicated fleet area with tax and other information as well as contact information. Fiat claims the portal will be the best virtual showroom online, allowing visitors to view the firm's entire range from different angles and in colours of their choice.

Other highlights include a live chat area so that Fiat owners can talk direct to the maker's customer service team.

There will also be an online service booking system and a used car sales area.

The project will lead Fiat's online offering for Europe and also includes a six-month expansion with a host of new features that Fiat executives remain tight-lipped about.

Fiat's current fleet website came 16th out of the top 20 car makers in BusinessCar's Top 20 Websites ranking feature at the end of last year. We described the site as easy to use, but lacking shortcuts and tools to help fleet managers and business car drivers.

Fiat's web project is part of a wider plan to boost the Italian firm's total annual sales to 100,000 by 2010, made up of 60,000 cars and 40,000 commercial vehicles.

The maker's research shows that 70% of car buyers now get their vehicle information from the internet before walking into a showroom or ordering a car through a company scheme.
