Fleet responsibility moves in RAC reorganisation

Date: 16 November 2007   |   Author: Hugh Hunston

Corporate partnership business within RAC is to come under the remit of its sales and marketing department as part of a re-organisation under Norwich Union Insurance.

John Kitson (pictured), RAC sales and marketing director, will be responsible for developing business car-related operations, although a spokesman for Norwich Union said it was too early in the development process to comment specifically on a future corporate partnership strategy.

NU claimed, however, that the RAC brand will be "leveraged to its full extent", including using the financial muscle of NU's parent company, Aviva, to "expand relationships with corporate partners".

Aviva took over RAC for £1.1 billion in March, 2005, and the resulting rationalisation, which includes shared NU back office HR, IT and finance functions, resulted in job losses, particularly among middle management.

RAC's managing director Debbie Hewitt is leaving the organisation next summer and until then will continue to work with BSM, HPI and Auto Windscreens.
