Ford to adopt Spanish service plan

Date: 15 June 2007

De Waard

Ford is investigating using a centralised online booking system for servicing work in order to reduce the time it takes to get a car serviced and improve dealer workshop efficiency.

Speaking at the launch of the new Mondeo, Ford managing director Roelant de Waard said Ford had introduced a central booking system in Spain with much success and was considering introducing it in the UK.

De Waard was critical of service centres in the UK and said that typically dealers ran their garages at 90% capacity.

He said that introducing a central booking system meant that if a driver called to book a service that 10% slack was eliminated and if a particular dealer was busy work could be allocated to the next nearest dealer.
