FRANKFURT MOTOR SHOW: Renault reveals lovely Laguna

Date: 11 September 2007

Renault has unveiled the stylish coupe that will spearhead the Laguna range.

Tipped to rival Mazda's RX-8, rather than the more expensive Peugeot 407 Coupe, Renault's concept was packed full of technology new to the brand.

Grabbing the most attention was the novel 'Active Drive' four-wheel-steer chassis that aids cornering and parking by using electric motors to independently steer the rear wheels.

Under the bonnet the Laguna reveals another technical triumph for the firm - an all-new, large capacity 265PS 3.0-litre V6 diesel that is set to star in many other forthcoming Renault models. The French firm are confident that emissions are so low it will comply to not only stringent Euro5 but Euro6 too.

The other big star of the Renault stand is an all-new utilitarian Kangoo concept, which this time around apparently takes styling tips from roller blade culture.
