Honda's Tourer Concept to hint at new Accord

Date: 05 September 2007   |   Author: Guy Bird

Anticipation surrounding the new Honda Accord Tourer Concept - being revealed at the Frankfurt motor show on 11 September - is high, as it is expected to be a bold design close to the next European Accord estate due out in mid-2008, along with the saloon.

The official blurb says the concept will offer a wider and lower look with sportier styling, an involving driving experience and good ride comfort. Power will come from a range of low emissions engines but a hybrid in not on the cards for Europe (despite the version in its Civic saloon sister).

Honda UK has high hopes the well-specified new Accord will accelerate its fleet hopes. The current model languished at no.47 in the half-year fleet sales charts well behind similar-sized rivals.

A Honda spokesman told BusinessCar: "Honda is the 10th largest fleet manufacturer in the UK but our fleet/retail sales mix does not reflect that. We'd like to get much closer to a 50/50 split and believe the Accord will help towards achieving this."
