Toyota has denied that its new Hybrid X is a replacement for the Prius, describing the concept car as "an example of the future of hybrid cars".
"It's an example of where we are going with hybrids and design," said a spokesman, referring to the space-aged interior that features three touch-screen monitors and rear seats that swivel by 12 degrees to allow passengers to either face inwards or outwards.
Toyota also confirmed long-term plans for a new sports car to fill the gap left by the Celica and MR2. "We know there's a gap in the market but it's a long way off, well into the next decade," said a spokesman.
