The start point for the best source of fleet information

Jaama bags 560-vehicle council deal

Date: 30 November 2007   |   Author: Tom Webster

Fleet management firm Jaama has been chosen to manage Luton Borough Council's group of 560 vehicles and plant machinery.

The local authority runs a fleet including everything from grass strimmers and refuse collection vehicles through to vans and coaches.

"Local authorities typically operate a very diverse mix of vehicles and plant and continue to service, maintain and repair vehicles through their own workshops" said the council's transport manager Don Allison. "We short-listed three potential providers and then selected Jaama's Key2 software system because it was the most forward-looking technology that suited our requirements."

The council will now be able to access detailed reports on their fleet and drivers. It will also be able to make use of touch screen technology to inform mechanics of outstanding repair work, as well as requesting parts.

"Industry data for cars and vans is available, but not for many of the types of vehicles operated by local authorities," explained Allison. "Jaama's innovative and pro-active approach to meeting our requirements means that we are now able to compile this information."
