Lexus ISF proves Japanese brand can do sporty

Date: 16 March 2007

Lexus says its new flagship ISF shows "we can make a sports sedan," despite the brand's focus on hybrids.

The ISF, range-topper to the IS line-up, will be launched in 2008, and gets its power from a 400PS 5.0-litre V8 attached to an eight-speed transmission. Lexus expects to sell around 150 a year.

On the environmental side, Lexus is also building up to September's launch of its luxury LS hybrid. Available in standard or long-wheelbase form, the 5.0-litre V8 joins with an electric motor to offer 445PS.
