The start point for the best source of fleet information

Mazda studies Euro options

Date: 18 September 2007   |   Author: Hugh Hunston

Mazda is carrying out an in-depth review of its pan-European fleet strategy to harness growing business car activity in major national markets including Britain and consolidate the 6's fleet role as the new car approaches its launch programme.

Announcing the "strategic corporate sales review across Europe" Mazda's European sales vice president Phil Waring, said: "A team headed by our UK sales director Jeremy Thomson is undertaking this multi-national appraisal.

"It involves a look at best practices across the industry at a time when fleet markets in major European markets, and therefore scope for pan European business, are growing. This is particularly relevant to Spain, Italy, the UK and Germany."

Waring added: "While we continue to have a focus on retail sales Mazda cannot continue to grow its volume and raise its brand profile without a significant fleet involvement. As a result we will bring a presence to the European business market that I don't think we have today."

Mazda's "successful relationship" with National Car Rental will continue although Waring emphasised: "We will not drown ourselves in major daily rental business. The new 2 continues as a predominantly retail prospect but with a European target of 90,000 units in 2008 trebling annual volumes in the context of 370,000 European Mazda sales the fleet element provides a significant undercurrent."
