Mercedes targets mid-size and smaller fleets

Date: 26 January 2007   |   Author: Hugh Hunston

Mercedes, traditionally strong in the larger fleet sector, is targeting medium and smaller operations via its dealer network.

DaimlerChrysler UK's chief executive Wilfried Steffen said: "We need greater representation in the mid-size and smaller fleets, which means smaller businesses. Broker business has grown in the last couple of years and the focus has to be on how to re-establish direct relationships with these fleet customers, including using the network."

Steffen was also bullish that the spring JD Power report on product reliability would help restore Mercedes' previously tarnished quality reputation, which has particular relevance to the business car sector.

He said: "We are not at all nervous about the upcoming JDPower report and we know what we have achieved and the faults per hundred reports provide encouragement."
