National plans new flexi-rental scheme

Date: 07 February 2007

Lorraine Farnon

National Car Rental is planning to introduce a new product in the spring aimed at businesses that have flexible vehicle needs.

The medium- to long-term rental product will provide businesses with a vehicle suited to the need of the driver at any time.

So while a driver may need an upper medium-sized car for business use during the week, he may need a van to move house at the weekend. Beyond that the driver may need a larger prestige car for entertaining clients, or a supermini when working in a city.

As yet, the new product does not have a name. However, it is being tested with several of National's customers.

UK sales director Lorraine Farnon said: "Practically it takes some effort to set up, but because we've got cars, vans and Guy Salmon offering prestige cars we have the facility to do this."
