New Subaru Impreza revealed (on film)

Date: 13 April 2007

Subaru has revealed the all-new Impreza, which is set to go on sale in the UK before the end of the year.

Although the car was shown in saloon and hatchback forms at the New York motor show last week, at present only the hatch is planned to be available Europe. Subaru also showed a facelifted version of its Tribeca off-roader.

The new Impreza will also feature a diesel engine for the first time. The 2.0-litre diesel is Subaru's own design and is understood to produce around 170PS.

Subaru is undecided how it will power the performance (and currently most popular) WRX version of the car in the UK. Despite the US WRX being powered by a 225PS 2.5-litre turbo petrol engine, Subaru is thought to be considering using the diesel engine to power the WRX.
