Peugeot has decided against fitting anti-skid control as standard across the range in its new 308, amid concerns of a lack of customer desire or even knowledge of the benefits of the safety system.
The new hatchback comes with ESP from the mid-range Sport trim level, but not on the lower Urban or S specifications. The decision is UK-based, with other European countries making ESP standard across the entire range.
The firm is, though, fitting new low-rolling resistance tyres on the entry diesel model, the 90PS 1.6-litre, and on the S trim level of the 110PS 1.6 diesel. Peugeot claims a 4g/km reduction in CO2 emissions.
