The start point for the best source of fleet information

Renault reveals new Laguna

Date: 04 June 2007

This is the first official picture of Renault's new Mondeo rival.

Called New Laguna, the upper medium competitor has a tough job on its hands, with the ageing current car not even making the top 50 of the fleet models' chart in 2006.

The replacement arrives in the UK on 12 October after making its world debut at September's Frankfurt motor show, and the French brand is maintaining its pledge to be among the top three in its segment for product quality. In testing, 120 development models have covered more than 3.7m miles.

The engine range will offer power outputs from 110 to 175PS, with three new engines part of the launch range. On the petrol side is a 140PS 2.0-litre, and there are two new diesels in the form of a 130PS 2.0 and a 110PS 1.5. The latter unit offers a claimed fuel consumption of 55.45mpg and 136g/km of CO2.

The New Laguna is, on average, 15kg lighter than its predecessor.

Renault claims the New Laguna's running costs will be "highly competitive" as the company has been paying particular attention to running and repair costs through the development process.

Pricing and specification details will be released in the run-up to the car's launch later this year.
