Skoda wavering on Greenline

Date: 27 September 2007

Skoda is wavering on whether to introduce its low-CO2 Fabia Greenline model to the UK

The company can only get the car to 110g/km, and the standard Fabia 1.4 TDI manages 119g/km, already falling into the second lowest VED band and under the proposed London congestion charge exemption point of 120g/km.

For the Fabia Greenline to attract no VED it would have to emit below 100g/km of CO2. Skoda's decision also takes into account the improvements Seat has made to the Ibiza that take it to 99g/km.

The company is also assessing the UK viability of introducing a biofuel Octavia under the same eco Greenline branding.
