Small Volvos grow up by keeping it in the family

Date: 10 April 2007

Volvo has facelifted its lower medium S40 saloon and V50 estate models, giving its biggest-selling models a mid-life refresh to take on the looks of the new S80 saloon and V70 estate.

As well as the exterior update, the Swedish brand has also tweaked the interior, with a new centre console and increased storage areas, as well as a new upholstery choice and three new exterior colours.

Bendy headlamps that turn with the front wheels are also available for the first time, and Isofix points for the rear seats are now standard.

For the first time, the top-spec D5 diesel will be available with a manual gearbox, making it the fastest diesel Volvo to date and also Euro5 compliant, while the top-spec petrol T5 gets a 10PS power upgrade to 230PS.

Sales start in June, with pricing expected to stay close to current levels.
