The start point for the best source of fleet information

Two weeks left to shape business car tax law

Date: 02 January 2007   |   Author: John Mahoney

Businesses have little more than two weeks to have its say in a consultation that could shape the next generation of company car tax

HM Revenue & Customs have given companies until 19 January to offer its opinion and provide real-world data for the tax body to examine.

There's even the possibility of attending meetings with HMRC in London (8/9 Jan) and Birmingham (16 Jan). The meetings will consist of a 10-minute presentation followed by open discussion.

Pivotal to the investigation and the discussion will be the Government's tax body finally addressing accusations that those opting for ECO Schemes buy more polluting cars, since they are unaffected by CO2-lead company car taxation.

The consultation will also explore the composition of fleets and if, or how, it has altered since the change in taxation.
