Ultimate parking system revealed

Date: 15 October 2007

Nissan will use this month's Tokyo motor show to introduce what it claims is the world's first parking system that enables drivers to see all around a vehicle.

Fitted to the Japan-only Elgrand model, which goes on sale at the end of October, the Around View system uses four wide-angle cameras to show what obstacles are nearby. The system can also put together a bird's eye view of the car and its surroundings.

The system also incorporates more traditional 'beeping' parking sensors. Around View will also be fitted to the EX35 from Nissan's sister brand Infiniti, which goes on sale in the US in December.

As yet no UK arrival date has been set for Around View.
