VW reveals Golf Bluemotion

Date: 13 August 2007

As part of Volkswagen's Frankfurt motor show display, the Germany firm will reveal a host of Bluemotion models including the Golf Bluemotion.

Bluemotion is VW's brand for low CO2, high efficiency models. The firm has already launched Bluemotion models of the Passat and Polo.

The Golf Bluemotion is powered by a 105PS 1.9-litre diesel capable of 62.8mpg and emitting just 119g/km, a figure that will give it a 100% discount from London's proposed new C-charge.

The improvements in efficiency come from a range of measures over the standard Golf including different gearing, low rolling resistance tyres and an aerodynamics pack.

On the Continent the Golf Bluemotion will cost approximately £200 more than the equivalent 1.9 TDI Golf.
