The start point for the best source of fleet information

Alphabet free licence checks 'break new ground'

Date: 29 September 2008

Leasing firm Alphabet claims it is breaking "entirely new ground for the fleet industry" with the launch of free driving licence checks and online risk assessment for every driver whose new car is delivered from October, either on contract hire or contract purchase.

"Alphabet is once again leading the way for our industry by making driver safety an integral part of the acquisition process," said Alphabet's general manager sales development Paul Hollick.

The firm claims its research shows 3% of drivers will have a previous ban, one in 300 will have a revoked or expired licence and one in 500 will be currently banned, illustrating the need for regular checks by fleet administrators.

"The benefits of driver licence checks and online risk assessments go beyond good risk management. They can help build up a good profile of each driver," said Hollick. "We want to promote the benefits of driver licence checking and driver risk assessments throughout the UK fleet sector."

Every Alphabet vehicle contract will now include a free check for one licence holder, and one free online driver assessment.
