Awards 2008 - Leasing: Lex

Date: 22 January 2008

Jon Walden

The UK's biggest leasing firm picks up the Leasing award in 2008 after another successful year.

In 2007, Lex seamlessly completed the integration of Bank of Scotland Vehicle Finance into its fold, a process which was something of a worry to managing director Jon Walden.. "To develop the integration to the standard we wanted required us to use key people. That's always a risk," Walden told BusinessCar. "However, from the outset we agreed customer service would not suffer."

Lex made a very healthy £64m pre-tax profit in 2006, up 22%, and is still dominant at the top of the leasing firm charts with more than a quarter of a million vehicles under its command. That's almost double that of second-placed Lloyds TSB Autolease.

But Walden isn't going to be resting on his laurels in 2008. "The Lex culture is strong and we want it to remain strong," he said. "To be a world-class leasing company is still our battle cry and will continue to remain so for the foreseeable future."
