CV Show goes on despite pull-outs

Date: 05 December 2008

The 2009's British Commercial Vehicle Show is in turmoil after the withdrawal from the event of several major van makers, including Vauxhall, Renault, Mercedes-Benz, Iveco and Isuzu.

All cite the tough economic conditions as the reason for staying away, although most are currently pledging to return in 2010.

All the major truck manufacturers have also announced they will be missing the event, held at the NEC in Birmingham between 28-30 April.

On a more positive note, Nissan, Citroen, Ford, Fiat, Renault and Peugeot among others will be there.

"There will still be over 350 exhibitors at the NEC and the show will go on," said a spokesman for CV show orgainser the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.

Over 28,000 visitors attended the event in 2008.
