Delta leads Lancia back to the UK

Date: 16 March 2008

The Delta is the car that will bring Italy's Lancia brand back into the UK next year.

Lancia owner Fiat wants the brand to sit upmarket of the sportier Alfa Romeo, while the first model will be the lower medium Delta pictured here. It's technically a rival to the likes of VW Golf and even Audi A3, though it's significantly larger than either of those models. There's no word on engine choices yet, other than there will be petrol and diesel options from 120-200PS.

Fiat bosses are still trying to work out how they will sell Lancia in the UK. There won't be a network of dealers set up exclusively for the brand due to the initial small volumes involved, but some of Fiat subsidiary Alfa's dealers will be employed to cover off the major geographic areas.
