Epica demand surprises Chevrolet

Date: 04 August 2008

Epica

Chevrolet has been stunned by the demand for its new upper medium saloon Epica, with the firm having to approach the factory for more supply after already selling the whole of this year's supply.

"It's fair to say we underestimated the demand and every month we're putting in supplementary orders but we can't catch up," Chevrolet UK marketing manager Les Turton told BusinessCar.

The big saloon starts from around £13,500, although national sales manager Harvey Hughes said that many sales have been on the top-spec models.

Much of the demand has come from private hire fleets, with enough interest for Chevrolet to set up a dedicated taxi programme.
