Fiat is to target small- to medium-sized businesses with the launch of its Dealer Fleet Specialist programme.

The aim is to educate fleets about the company's range of low CO2-emitting cars.

The new programme will see the appointment of 10 fleet specialists this year, with five more to be appointed in the future.

"Our aim is to establish a group of dealers that will employ dedicated people to focus on developing relationships with fleets in their local area," said Adam Pumfrey, Fiat's fleet and remarketing director.

The specialists will be set a sales target and will also be responsible for aftersales care.

The Italian carmaker has also announced the launch of a driver development course to help with duty of care.
