The start point for the best source of fleet information

First Pictures: Chevrolet Cruze

Date: 22 August 2008

Chevrolet has revealed first pictures of its new Kia Ceed and Hyundai i30 rival - the Cruze.

Arriving next spring, initially only as a four-door saloon, the Cruze will launch with 112PS 1.6 and 140PS 1.8 petrol engines, as well as the 150PS 2.0-litre already employed in the Captiva off-roader and Epica saloon.

There's also talk of a 125PS version of that engine being introduced.

The Cruze is being launched as a saloon first, before the hatchback, as it's the most popular form in many of Chevrolet's most important worldwide markets.

In the short term the Lacetti five-door and estate variants will continue, although Chevrolet is also promising a concept car at October's Paris motor show that will "explain why there's no Cruze estate".

The Cruze is the first model to use GM's global 'Delta' platform that will also provide the underpinnings for the next Vauxhall Astra, due in the next 18 months.
