Date: 07 July 2008

Vauxhall has released pictures of its five-door Insignia hatchback ahead of the car's world debut at the British motor show in two weeks time.

These are the first shots of the hatchback version, expected to dominate sales in the UK, and it will adorn the motor show stand alongside the saloon model, pictures of which were released last month. There will also be an estate following later, expected to be first seen at October's Paris motor show.

Five engines will be available for launch, three petrol and two 2.0-litre diesels of 130 and 160PS.

Vauxhall has also confirmed that first Insignia deliveries have been nudged back another month to December. The car was originally due in October before being knocked back to November, and the latest estimates put it in car parks by the end of 2008, though industry rumours put it later still, into 2009.
