Ford unveils Fiesta Zetec S

Date: 16 July 2008

Ford will reveal a warm-hatch version of the new Fiesta at the London motor show next week.

The Fiesta Zetec S is powered by a 120PS 1.6-litre engine giving the car a 0-62,ph time of 9.9 seconds. The new powerplant is more efficient than the outgoing 100PS 1.6 engine in the current Fiesta and is capable of 47.9mpg and has a CO2 figure of 139g/km.

User-choosers wanting a hot-hatch version of the new Fiesta will have to wait. An ST version of the new supermini is expected later in the model's life.

Ford will also offer a diesel version of the Fiesta Zetec S powered by a 90PS 1.6-litre diesel engine capable of 67.3mpg and 110g/km.

Prices for the new Fiesta are expected to be revealed nearer the car's autumn on-sale date.
