Fuel protest to disrupt London on Wednesday

Date: 01 July 2008

A new, third, fuel price protest by truck drivers will close the London-bound A40 in the capital tomorrow (Wednesday 2 July).

HGV protesters will be meeting on the A40 between White City and Edgware Road before starting their drive through the city.

The route, which forms part of the central toll-free road through the congestion-charging zone, will be closed between 10.00 and 16.00.

Diversions will take drivers onto the A3220 West Cross Route, and warning signs will be displayed on major incoming roads including the M25 and the M40.

Transport for London said it would try to ensure that any driver diverted into the C-charge zone isn't charged. If any vehicles receive a penalty charge as a result of a diversion then TfL said it will allow appeals through the normal procedure.
