Fuel strike cancelled

Date: 18 June 2008

This weekend's scheduled strike by Shell tanker drivers has been called off after unions and management reached an agreement over pay.

A four-day strike starting Friday morning was scheduled to repeat the fuel shortages seen last weekend, however, business car drivers should now be able to fill up without problem.

Neither side has commented officially on the details of the agreement, although it is understood a pay increase was offered.

The only people unhappy about the agreement is the Government, which has called for pay agreements to be limited to slow inflation.
