The start point for the best source of fleet information

Green credentials boost telematics

Date: 27 August 2008

The pressure to go green could give fleet telematics systems a boost, according to a survey by leasing firm Hitachi.

Research into fleet managers attitudes to the environment have revealed 58% believe tracking, traffic and route finding systems will help fleets improve their green credentials.

However, the survey also revealed a near even split between those that thought telematics systems would bring cost savings and those that didn't.

"Tighter budgets and green targets mean that reducing fuel consumption is now a top priority for fleet managers," says Steve Pinchen, environmental development manager, Hitachi Capital Vehicle Solutions. "Our research highlights the growing recognition that telematics is a tool that can provide fleet managers with the visibility and control they need to reduce both running costs and carbon footprint of their vehicles."
