Leasing body goes on the green offensive

Date: 23 January 2008

Tired of being attacked by the vocal environmental lobby, leasing association BVRLA is going on the offensive in 2008 to illustrate how proactive the industry is regarding the green agenda.

The first salvo is the announcement that the association's members have cut emissions by three million tonnes over four years across their fleet of two million vehicles.

Average emissions have fallen from 172g/km in 2003 to 157g/km last year, coming as a result of more-efficient vehicles that are covering fewer miles.

The average annual vehicle mileage has fallen from 25,000 four years ago to 21,643 in 2007.
